a philanthropy* of friends
In 2008 Helen Starr, Katie Alice Fitz Gerald, Alex Young, Mihailo Trandafilovski, Emma de Fries Kamlyn Chak and Paula Crickard began having conversations about collaborating together on various artistic projects based around fundraising for the South London Gallery and nurturing the community in which the Gallery was based. In 2009 FuseArts was formed. We welcome any positive contributions to our project.
If you would like to contact FuseArts then please send an email to caroline@fusearts.org or helen@fusearts.org or if you have any questions about the website then please contact Chris Learey at chris@jellykey.com
* Philanthropy derives from Ancient Greek, meaning "to love people". Philanthropy is the act of donating money, goods, services, time and/or effort to support a socially beneficial cause, with a defined objective and with no financial or material reward to the donor. In a more general sense, philanthropy may encompass any altruistic activity intended to promote good or improve human quality of life. One who practices philanthropy may be called a philanthropist. Although such individuals are often rich, any one can perform philanthropic acts without possessing great wealth.
