Dean St Atelier

Making Ideas Real
What is Dean St Atelier?
Dean St Atelier is a multi disciplinary studio space based in Soho, London. Launching in November 2010, the atelier will bring together a specially selected group of emergent creative practices which span technological and object design, architecture, visual art, fashion and film. Each creative practice is an independent business running within the studio.
The Atelier is a venture philanthropy project founded and run by Helen Starr (Director of Fuse Arts), Rukhsana Jahangir (Independent Curator) and Laurelene Chambovet (Director of Philanthropy at The Hospital Club). Drawing upon their extensive network of contacts throughout the creative industries, the founders of Dean St Atelier will actively foster innovative cross arts projects and facilitate dialogues between creatives and their commercial markets.
Dean St Atelier will also work in collaboration with these creative practitioners, commissioning both single and cross discliplinary projects. Within these enterprises, Dean St Atelier will offer support and advice to the creatives to develop their skills in the production and business elements of their practice.
Dean St Atelier is based around the idea of interaction and interrelation, with a belief in creativity as an open channel. Therefore, the Atelier will continually strive to encourage dialogue and resource sharing between the divergent practices resident at the Atelier.
Dean St Atelier represents an incubator for the highest level of creative talent. It is a space where emergent creatives are given the freedom to explore, develop and bring ideas to realisation without the risk of compromising the integrity of their vision due to commercial pressure. At the Atelier; differences interact, talent is nurtured and unique opportunities are offered to launch innovative projects across a wide breadth of commercial demographics, paving the way for innovative forms of creative business practice.
Our long-term aim is to establish Dean St Atelier as an internationally renowned platform for the creation and production of cutting-edge projects, disseminated through a network of creative studios across the globe.
Each of the practitioners we work with have received traditional training, be it institutionally or through first hand experience with industry professionals. What unites these individuals, and the vision of the Atelier, is a intrinsic understanding and incorporation of traditional means and values, twinned with exceptional innovating talent that ensures each remains at the forefront of cutting-edge developments within their respective practices.
